First off, Writing 2 was the polar opposite of what I expected, I didn't think we'd have so much fun and learn USEFUL stuff. I dreaded W2 from the day of orientation but I'm so glad I took it and especially with Zack as the professor.
Now this portfolio. After the google doc'a'thon I am still just as confused about my thesis statements, I'm kind of nervous the one's in my revised WP's aren't all that awesome. A lot of my classmates made good points about how to write a strong thesis and what to include. It need's to be challengeable, and describe what argument you're going to be making in a clear and concise way. I think for me, summarizing my paragraphs and trying to construct an argument out of them is the best way to go about writing my thesis at this point. When I started working on my portfolio though, I could see the other lessons and skills I've picked up throughout the course shining through in my writing. Then again, I notice that whenever I write now. Writing 2 has really improved my abilities as a writer and as a reader academically and non-academically. The structure of my paper's--not only in Writing 2 but all my classes--is not just the typical
-Intro
-Paragraph One Idea, supporting details, closing sentence
-Paragraph Two Idea, supporting details, closing sentence
-Paragraph Three Idea, supporting details, closing sentence
-Conclusion
but instead it's tailored and grouped by details and ideas; my sentences flow better and everything transitions smoothly and not so choppy.
I had a lot of concerns throughout this course, sometimes I lost confidence in myself and struggled to balance school, life, and my personal issues all at the same time. Ultimately, I improved my abilities as a writer, a student, and I came out on top at the end. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have learned and experienced so much within such little time. Its been real.
